ABOUT THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Thirty Years of Creative
Learning and Impact
Reflecting on three decades of graphic design education, studio practice, and creativeÂ
community at Takoradi Technical University.
THE MILESTONE
Why This Anniversary Matters
Thirty years of design education represents more than an institutional milestone — it represents thousands of individual creative journeys, a sustained commitment to excellence, and a lasting contribution to Ghana’s creative economy.
The TTU Graphic Design Department has developed through periods of significant change — from the early foundations of commercial art education to the integration of digital tools, and from polytechnic roots to full university status.
Through each phase, the department has remained committed to preparing students not only with technical skills, but with the creative thinking, professional judgement, and cultural awareness needed to contribute meaningfully to visual communication in Ghana and beyond.

LOOKING FORWARD
Heritage and Future Direction
The 30th Anniversary is both a celebration of what has been built and a moment to consider what comes next. The department looks forward to deepening its academic programmes, expanding industry connections, and continuing to support the creative development of students from across Ghana and West Africa.
The history of the department belongs to everyone who has been part of it — students, staff, alumni, and the broader creative community that has supported its growth over thirty years.
